Lakeview Michigan - Community Spotlight

Posted by Jackie Bissonette on Mar 9, 2018 in Community Spotlight

The Village of Lakeview is a lovely farming community with approximately 1,700 residents.  The area boasts two all-sports lakes that are ironically very close in size of approximately 300 acres.  Tamarack Lake is relatively shallow with an average depth of 12' and is known mostly for boating and fishing while Townline Lake is deeper, less weedy and depending on who you talk to, better for swimming.  The countryside farms surrounding the village offer a pastoral and serene landscape with many Amish farms selling local produce at roadside stands. Be sure to bring cash if you plan on roaming the countryside as most farmers do not accept credit cards.

What I love most about the Village downtown is the quintessential "Main Street" that is alive and bustling with locally owned small shops and professional services.  The roots of this small community run deep with a full, rich history evident by the historical architecture of the buildings. Step down Main Street (actually it's Lincoln Ave) and you will find interesting places to shop, fun places to get a bite and an array of professional services including medical, insurance, legal and accounting.

There's something for everyone in Lakeview and visitors are always WELCOME!  Stop by and spend the day. While you're here scope out Dippity Dog Cones and Franks, you can't miss it with its electric pink exterior!  Want a quick cup of Joe or light lunch, Village Kupp's coffee shop will fill that need with a fun, trendy atmosphere. Looking for a burger and a beer, McKenna's Village Restaurant has got you covered along with daily specials.  Ladies that need a quick outfit or accessory for an upcoming event can find modern styles for every shape and budget at Gigi's Traveling Boutique. Need a vitamin or homeopathic remedy, The Healing Center can fix you up quick. Working on a home project requiring paint, building materials or household items, check out Cantwell's Hardware (more like a General Store) and discover ALL the treasures within. No stop to Lakeview would be complete without a stop into Peddler's Patch.  This lovely store offers something for everyone and is the perfect place to pick out that special gift or to treat yourself to a little something special. Once inside you will find locally made artwork and artisan crafts, honey, maple syrup, clothing, soaps, lotions, fresh flowers, and so much more!

Step down the street and you will find an array of local medical services such as Aris Eye Care, Lakeview Family Chiropractic, Countryside pharmacy, Spectrum Hospital for labs or x-rays and Lakeview Dental Associates.  For fitness buffs, the Lakeview Wellness Center is open to the public and offers exercise classes, workout equipment, and a pool. The Tamarack District Library is one of the Village's crown jewels with its array of community-focused enrichment classes, multi-media services, hobby supplies for loan, free wi-fi and of course a huge selection of books!  Local residents can grocery shop at locally owned Leppink's Grocery store with its fine selection of meats, deli items, produce, cheeses, beer, wine, and liquor.  Like to bowl or looking for something AMAZING to eat, check out Alley Cat Bar and Grill, a local favorite! Finally, no farming community would be complete without a local elevator whether you need feed, livestock supplies, outdoor gear, or garden supplies, look no further than Lakeview Elevator.

You need to look no further, whether you are looking to settle down here or simply stop by for a spell, Lakeview is a wonderful, safe community that is home to many locally owned small businesses, several churches, Lakeview Community Schools, Spectrum Hospital, and an engaging and helpful Village Council and Village Works department.  Working together, the residents of this small community have created a wonderful place to live, work and play with events such as Music in the Park, SummerFest, WinterFest and the Lakeview Community Garden!

Lakeview, MI...a great place to visit and a wonderful place to live.
